About Amy

Born in 1960, I discovered my artistic self while studying Illustration at the University of Miami. Although not having a clear-cut career as an Artist, I still managed. over the years, to express myself as an amateur in ceramics, printmaking, sculpture and papercutting.

I often question the nature of my artistic identity. Is there a “true” self beneath the layers of external influence, or am I simply a product of circumstance?

Working with different materials became a way to externalize my thoughts. Some felt wrong—too rigid or fragile—while others mirrored aspects of my journey, like resilience and adaptability. Through trial and error, I discovered that an artist identity isn’t static or pure. It’s a mosaic, shaped by influence, actively pieced together.

In embracing this process, I found agency—not in escaping influence, but in choosing how to interpret and express it. My identity is ever evolving, and that’s the beauty of it: it’s not something to solve but something to live and experience.
